The website aims at promoting some of the cultural contents excised by academic culture and the mainstream from the landscape of knowledge. Over the last three centuries in particular, evolution was identified with technology and the quest for the source of knowledge was forgotten. The rationalism with which today’s society was brought up, has led to the conviction that the closed dimension we live in is barren of ideas, the result of which can be witnessed every day: a human context, which is unable to meet the most real and pressing demands for knowledge, and incapable of solving the most basic problems of one’s own community.
Among the several approaches which develop and integrate in today’s modern culture, we suggest that of Marko Pogačnik.
We are pleased to start the year 2012 with this first divulgation project and we wish to offer further opportunities to nurture with contents the change we are waiting for.
Marko Pogačnik was born in 1944 in Slovenia, where he currently lives in between his frequent travels. Showing an early and marked sensitivity, he studied sculpture and graduated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana. He started a promising career as an artist and his works were exhibited in Europe and in the United States. He radically changed his life going back to the countryside and becoming a farmer, which led to the birth of a new sense of art and to the creation of an artistic-rural community called “Šempas family”. He has been developing the method of “Lithopuncture”, a sort of land acupuncture, since 1979, using large rocks in which he carves figures he calls “cosmograms”. He developed many “Earth healing” projects all over the world, using choirs, meditation, visualizations and communicating with the “spirits of nature”.
